Statement of the Clerk

There is a class of persons whose wealth is not measured in a currency but in the number of dimensions across which their claim is honoured. They are eleven deep. We are billed for all eleven.

Their politics is not conducted in public because it is not conducted in sequence. A vote may be taken after its outcome has been implemented. An objection may be filed by someone who has not yet been permitted to exist.

I carried paper between those rooms for nine happy years. My clearance was Class Nine. My function was to be present and to be forgettable. I was excellent at the second part.

Nothing published here is stolen. Every document was handed to me in the ordinary course of my duties, by delegates who did not consider a clerk to be a witness. That was their filing error, not mine.
